Hello! I’m Summer.
I’m a 23 year old Journalism graduate from Brighton.
I graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2019 and have since relocated to the South East where I currently work as a receptionist at a global security company.
I have experience in copy/feature writing for both print and online publications, radio (script writing/voice over), TV (script writing/presenting), and general news production (multimedia packages).
In my personal experience as a mixed race, working class woman, I have always felt that there is not enough representation of people like myself in the media and I want this to change.
My goal is to use my platform to help bridge the gap between underrepresented groups in society and the mainstream media by offering a voice to those who may never have even considered sharing their experiences – whatever they may be.
Hearing the stories, achievements, opinions, and experiences of others has been a crucial part of my development and growth as an individual – as I know it is for many.
I truly see journalism as one of the most important tools we can use to help build a world that is more empathetic, humane and inclusive – and I take pride in being a part of this industry.
I have been published with several publications mostly based in Liverpool (Purple Revolver, Liverpool Life, JMU Journalism, Liverpool Echo), and I am looking forward to working with many more in the years to come.
In terms of the work I’ve displayed on this website, I am always grateful to receive any feedback or comment – so please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss anything further!
